Would you like to familiarise yourself with aircraft systems and ensure that our fleet is always ready for action? As an apprentice aircraft mechanic specialising in maintenance technology, you will learn all about maintenance and overhaul work, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and electrical components, such as those found in control consoles, landing gear and cockpit units. While in Frankfurt you will mainly work in or on the aircraft, in Hamburg you will work in highly specialised workshops.


Do you want to know how the individual components of the aircraft structure are manufactured and repaired? As an apprentice aircraft mechanic specialising in production engineering, you will learn everything about checking, repairing and producing new components and the same time maintain and produce new cabin interiors.


Would you like to take care of the assembly, maintenance and repair of our engines? As an apprentice aircraft mechanic specialising in engine technology, you will learn in specialised workshops how all the individual parts are assembled into components, engine modules or entire engines based on technical drawings.


Do you want to take over the testing, repair and commissioning of all electrical and electronic devices in our aircraft with us? As an apprentice aircraft electronics technician, you will learn how to lay, connect and overhaul cables or even replace entire wiring harnesses. This also includes repairing components, which you then reinstall and test for functionality. While most of the work in Frankfurt is done in or on the aircraft, in Hamburg you will work in highly specialised workshops.


Are you interested in the interaction of the individual systems in an aircraft? Computers, displays and other components are needed to ensure that all systems in the aircraft work together optimally. As a trainee electronics technician for devices & systems, you will learn everything about the testing, repair and commissioning of these components, which are found in control units for engines and landing gear, black boxes, navigation systems and radar systems.


Would you like to take on the treatment, repair and manufacture of tools and aircraft components in the future, which involves special manual skills? As an apprentice tool mechanic, you will learn how to become an expert in the manufacture and processing of aircraft components, devices and tools. You will assemble individual parts into complete components and check them for functionality and quality. You will be trained in the use of both conventional and computer-controlled machine tools and develop appropriate work programs.


Would you like to take on responsibility for the treatment and production of aircraft components in the future? As an apprentice cutting machine operator, you will learn everything about turning and milling as well as the safe use of conventional and computer-controlled machine tools and develop work programs for them. You will prepare the mechanical process and then carry it out.


Do you want to work with us to ensure that our aircraft components can withstand the enormous stresses and strains? As an apprentice surface coater, you will learn all about the finishing of components from the landing gear or engine and ensure that the mechanical components are more resistant. You will learn how to finish components with chrome and other metals, prepare electroplating baths, apply metals using electronic processes and colour surfaces using chemicals.


Do you want to work with us to ensure that urgently needed aircraft spare parts are in the right place at the right time? As a trainee warehouse logistics specialist, you will learn everything about our perfectly functioning material supply system. You will learn how to handle various transport devices and warehouse management systems. Your tasks will also include receiving, storing and transporting essentiell goods for the assembly.


Are you interested in planning and commissioning the worldwide transport of aircraft spare parts? Trainee freight forwarding and logistics clerks learn all about drawing up schedules, selecting suitable means of transport and dealing with all the associated formalities.

Training locations

Compensation in the 1st year of apprenticeship

Course of your technical training

Basic training (approx. 18 months)

During this time, you as an apprentice will acquire basic skills and abilities for the respective job profile in the training workshop. At the same time, you will acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge at the vocational college, which is constantly being expanded through in-house courses.

Operational assignments (approx. 18-24 months)

Once you have completed your basic training, you will work in various productive areas of Lufthansa Technik. During this time, you will be supported by specialised staff who will act as your mentors. Blocks of vocational school are also integrated into this phase.

Course of your logistics training

During the practical assignments in the specialist departments of Lufthansa Technik Logistik Services, you will be familiarised with relevant activities such as goods receiving, storage and retrieval and shipping activities.

In addition to 6-8 week practical assignments in various departments, you will also participate in various training courses that generally focus on the specific handling of aviation materials. Alongside the on-the-job training, the school system at the respective location will also be part of your program.

Your apprenticeship normally lasts three years. If you perform well, you even have the option of shortening it by six months.
