Lufthansa Technik acquires majority stake in ETP Thermal Dynamics

Lufthansa Technik has acquired a majority stake in U.S.-based ETP Thermal Dynamics, marking a significant step in the expansion of its aircraft component services portfolio in the Americas. The acquisition of ETP will enable Lufthansa Technik to enhance its heat exchanger capacity within its network and further strengthen its supply chain security.

Through its U.S. holding company Lufthansa Technik North America Holding Corp., Lufthansa Technik has purchased 80 percent of the shares in ETP Thermal Dynamics from Campbell Holdings Group, LLC. Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ETP Thermal Dynamics specializes in MRO services for heat exchangers, oil and fuel coolers. The company has also developed expertise in manufacturing its own cores for heat exchangers. This acquisition not only provides Lufthansa Technik with further repair capabilities and aircraft heat exchanger components but also extends the company’s footprint in the Americas.

Michael Scheferhoff, Managing Director at Lufthansa Technik Component Services, said: “The acquisition of ETP represents an important step in Lufthansa Technik's strategic growth and the expansion of its capabilities in the aircraft component services in the region. With this partnership, Lufthansa Technik can enhance its market presence and reinforces its position as a globally leading MRO provider.”

Rick Campbell, shareholder of ETP Thermal Dynamics, added: “This acquisition ensures continuity and growth for ETP by leveraging Lufthansa Technik’s expertise and market reach to enhance our capabilities and services in the aircraft component market.”

Lufthansa Technik has appointed Kenny Walling, Director of Production and Engineering at Lufthansa Technik Component Services, to also assume the role as CEO of ETP Thermal Dynamics. Rick Campbell, the former CEO and partial owner of ETP, will continue as CTO to expand core production and third-party business. The proximity of ETP’s facilities to Lufthansa Technik Component Services in Tulsa further facilitates post-acquisition activities and integration.
