Lufthansa Technik expands into direct sales of refurbished aircraft parts
Lufthansa Technik is strengthening its direct sales of used serviceable aircraft parts to airlines and operators, expanding beyond the sale of surplus parts. This enhanced service provides a direct and cost-effective response to rising demand in a constrained parts market.
As a global leader in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, Lufthansa Technik operates one of the largest and most advanced component pools in the aviation industry. Until now, Lufthansa Technik mainly sold surplus parts from its large inventory to third-party traders. These spare parts are well known for their high quality and certification. With the introduction of direct USM sales, Lufthansa Technik now offers a more efficient and cost-effective route for airlines and operators to access certified aircraft components directly from the source. The USM parts come not only from surplus stock but are also generated through teardown processes. Every component is rigorously tested and certified by Lufthansa Technik. The USM solution is made available on key platforms such as Aeroxchange (CAGE Code 6MJ89).
“By offering direct sales of USM parts, we are making it easier, faster and cost-efficient for airlines and operators to access the certified parts they need,” explained Georgios Ouzounidis, Vice President Sales for the Americas at Lufthansa Technik. “Every refurbished part is carefully tested and certified to meet our high safety and performance standards, ensuring a reliable and consistent supply of components for our customers.”
A dedicated team within Lufthansa Technik’s U.S. subsidiary, Lufthansa Technik Component Services in Miami, will manage customer orders and ensure a smooth procurement process. In addition, a warehouse in Fort Lauderdale supports efficient distribution across the Americas, alongside the company’s expanding U.S. component workshop in Tulsa.
Lufthansa Technik will showcase its USM solution at the MRO Americas 2025 in Atlanta, where attendees can learn more about the service and how it can help airlines and operators.
